But beginning last month, the index went up again in October as well as for November. “More and more builders are seeing light at the end of the tunnel,” says David Pressly, president of the NAHB and a builder based in Statesville, N.C. “Our members are telling us that the market is steadying after a significant downward correction. We look for sales to stabilize and gradually move up in the coming months.” Robert Brusca, chief economist for FAO Economics, agrees. “The data tell us that the worst of housing is behind us,” Brusca says. If you’re serious about buying, you’ll want to get in the market now before builder inventories are gone and the market becomes stable again next Spring. I live in the Middletown, Oh area. I have been in collections for about 20 years. As it turns out, I have had to take jobs that are always far away such as downtown Cinci or even Northern KY. I need at least 15-16 an hour to meet my financial needs. Quite frankly I am just burned out with the long drives and I want to find something no more than 30 minutes from home. I would love to go no further south than Sharonville or no further north than the Dayton Mall area. I am also looking for first shift hours. I am a good collector and have no issues where I am now. I just need something closer to home as 20 years of an hour drive or more needs to come to an end. I review Career Builders nightly and it seems to be the same $11.00 an hour ads over and over. Also if you live where I live do you know any available jobs?

The lot used to be residential with a mobile home. That home is not there anymore. It was also used for manufacturing and retailing concrete statues for about 40 years. Voting Question: Can I use this years escrow money to pay for last years property tax?

I'm just about to sign on my first home loan but want to know how close to good faith estimate will my loan be? I don't want to pay much more than what I was quoted. The loan agent at the mortgage company (referred by builder) has told me that the good faith estimate is a breakdown of what I can expect but he estimates it will be a bit lower. I don't want to lose my earnest money and money for upgrades if at closing it looks wrong.

Resolved Question: Have a new home with ceramic tiles and grout in kitchen and bathrooms?

Should I go ahead and seal the grout with a sealant or leave it as is. The builder didn't seal because it's not their responsibility. I'm concerned about stains from spills.

The lenders or the consumers? Or is it a little of both? I, frankly, am somewhat saddened by the tighter mortgage standards. My husband and I have credit "issues" that happened in our twenties and doomed us to credit ratings below 650. A "second chance" mortgage was extended to us and we paid a little bit higher (6.6% vs. 5.75%) but we weren't made to put a gazillion down and be forced to take ARMS. Since we've purchased the home (my second, his first), we've been on time, every time. We've even refinanced. The moral of my story is had it not been for second chance loans, people like us wouldn't have been able to purchase a home. However, the same gift also can be a curse since I've seen neighbors go into foreclosure because unscrupulous builders push 3000 sq ft homes on people whose budgets couldn't afford it. Resolved Question: How is the Sub prime morgtage crisis affecting the new home builders now?

I am in the early stages of the build process I already have land and am looking at different house plans. I was approved for one loan for a house that I didnt get because of its size. So now I am going to build. How difficult is it to get a construction loan these days. I have excellent work history and near excellent credit but no down payment I do own the land that the house will be built on and no money is owed on that land.

please help me...water dripping sound from the first floor and basement ...more than 30-40 minutes after using water(5minutes) on the 2flr shower booth, bath tub,and sink. Hysterical? Not at all. Read the whole thing and think about what you have in your home that is Chinese made. Shop at Wal-Mart? Then don't bitch and complain when companies outsource.
The fact is, America's position as a maker and a builder is long gone. Now America is fat, lazy and it's sense of entitlement is nothing to be proud of.

Forgive me for lacking details but its film my girlfriend watched at around 2am. Its about a man (maybe a builder) that go's to a foreign country (iran?) to work for some people, but they don't give him his passport back. So stranded, to get home he posts himself in the mail, but ends up having to spend around 3 days stuck in the box he mailed himself in.

alright I found a builder who I like, I found a 8,0004 square foot piece of land (I like) 76 feet wide. I want a 2000 square foot home built, 2 story,3bdrooms, 2.5 baths, alot of windows, high ceilings, fireplace, skylights, deck if possible as oppose to porch, french doors, master with sitting room on second floor. Width is where I have problems, I don't want to be close to my neighbors but I'm not all that fond of narrow floorplans..been looking at max width of 55 and their not bad floorplans. All in all Im looking for expertise as to what I should not exceed with width or depth, my possiblilities, etc. What I do know is there is no homeowners association and considering all the info I have I think Im pretty set to a wide range of possibiilities but again I ve never done this (custom build) and the internet is wasting my time and not producing any results. PLEASE HELP!! I hope this made sense I don't even know how to ask about this cause I don't know really what Im asking

Open Question: Federal aid for Katrina victims?

We bought a house a few years ago, found out it is 153 yrs old. We did some research and found the actual builder, he is buried in the cemetary about 1mile away from the house. It is a huge monument, very well taken care of. We often go visit the grave, and clean it up.

But his 6 year old son died in the home, we believe he may still be here. We have tried calling him by name, with no luck.
It is not a bad vibe or anything, it's actually pretty calm.
Years later this home was used as a funeral parlor, in 1840's.
Is there a way to contact any spirits here if there are any. It is a fascinating home. But would love to acknowledge any who still linger here. How can we validate them?? Please I am looking for real answers.

I've read several derogatory comments about my national builder. These comments even come from previous employees of the company. I'd like to keep my loan though (this loan company works closely with my developer) as the rate is excellent and my credits not that great. I think I've found a better built home that is a little larger. After I put in upgrades, my house cost a lot more (and I didn't go overboard). I'm nervous - I've signed all my paperwork except for closing documents - my house is in the process of being built. I'm not crazy about dealing with this company either.

My builder went out of business because he said hurricane Katrina made it impossible finish the homes he was building. My builder filed bankruptcy and never finished our home or paid the subcontractors.

I had to finish the home myself and pay the subcontractors off.

I have built many websites in the past using things like yahoo sitebuilder. These programs are easy and boaring..lol! I havent built a website in a while and would now like to build a member website. (people come and sign up for an account on my website). Please I am looking for advice on how to do this. Also i am using windows vista home premium and cannot use yahoo site builder because it is not compatible with vista. If you can recommend a free software for building websites I would appreciate it. Open Question: Illegal immigrants have been getting home loans from banks in the USA for how long? And how many subprime?

Any idea how many illegal immigrants have gotten subprime loans over the last 3 years that have foreclosed and added to the number of losses for mortgage companies, share holders, house builders/sellers, inspectors, etc!? Why is it, that so called experts don't want to address the question being asked instead want to defer to the procedures for loaning money to legal immigrants? There is a clear difference between legal and illegal, seems like you would not have to ask a person to clarify all the time. It's just weak, people dont want to actually address illegal immigrants as illegal and instead want to pretend they don't know what you are talking about.

Tell me what you think: are there some jobs more suited to men? Are there some jobs more suited to women? Should men be payed more than their female counterparts so tha they can support their families? Would the world be a better place if women stayed home with the kids, or are you in favour of the stay-at-home dad? Are there certain jobs such as builders that women shouldn't be allowed to do? Do only gay men work as nurses? Should women over 25 be disallowed to get a job so that they can concetrate on getting married?
I already have my opinions on these questions but I would much like to hear your views on these contentious issues. Please give reasons for your answers.

Open Question: Will a builder adjust home price before closing?

This is a story about the bond formed between a little girl and a group of building workers. It's allegedly true and makes you believe in human nature after all.

A young family moved into a house which was adjacent to a vacant building plot. After a few weeks, a gang of workers turned up to start building a new house on the empty plot. The family's daughter aged five naturally took an interest in all the activity now taking place next door and started talking to the various workers. She was always hanging around the building site and eventually the builders, all with hearts of gold, more or less adopted little girl as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had tea and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important. They even provided her with her very own hard hat and gloves.

At the end of the first week they presented her with a 'pay packet' containing two pounds in 10p coins. The little girl took this 'pay' home to her mother who suggested that they take the money down to the bank the very next day to open a new savings account. When they got to the bank the cashier was tickled pink, listening to the little five year old girl telling him about her 'work' on the building site and the fact she had received her first 'pay packet'.

"You must have worked very hard to earn all this" said the bank cashier, counting out the two pounds.

The little girl proudly replied, "Yes. I worked all last week helping the men build this new house next door to where I live".

"My goodness gracious," said the cashier, "will you be working on the house again this week, as well?"

The little girl thought for a moment and said, "I think so. Providing those w*nkers at Jewsons deliver the f**king bricks.

Resolved Question: Do I need a realtor in every situation?

We have not yet contacted a realtor to help us find a home. We have found our dream home on our own. It is new and the builder is using a realtor to try and sell it. It was finished in February 2007 and they still haven't sold it. We can't afford to offer them what they are asking. They want $470,000 but we can only offer $429,000. (It's not a big house, we just live in a crazy market by a major city) We are afraid that if we contact a realtor to help us that they will turn down the offer because of having to pay a commission to our realtor, on top of our low offer. Can't we just call their realtor explain the situation and figure something out? Is there another way? I'm just looking for ideas. We don't want to lose this house. As much as advice as possible would be great! DJB - Get over yourself. You are a realtor in Minnesota, not someone with a profession that actually requires a college degree. For your information we were approved for a $600,000 home and decided that we do NOT want to live outside our means. I am asking about a $40,000 price reduction, other houses in our area are getting $100,000+ price reductions. You can offer the seller a $1 if you want. He doesn't have to take it! You don't know where I live so stick to the question.

I brought a home and the builders left a bid pile of bricks. I decided o put the bricks on my porch which is already cemented. i want a bricks porch.
